Olive Oil Bath Uses

Olive oil is coming into the spotlight in recent years for its numerous health benefits. In many homes it is replacing the less nutritious fats in our diet, such as animal fats and butter. However, the important role olive oil can play in our diet is not the only use of this fabulous liquid. Olive oil bath uses also abound and can be very therapeutic and beneficial to the outside of your body, as well as inside.

Many people are shying away from some of the commercial bath products they've used in the past. Recognizing some of the harsh chemicals that are no good for the environment, and not so good for your skin, either, people are turning to more natural options. Olive oil can really come into play for those looking for the great moisturizing benefits nature has to offer.

In place of your old bath oil, you can use two or three tablespoons of olive oil! Just add it to your running bath as you would other oils. It will give your skin a touch of moisture and leave it feeling soft and smooth. Keep in mind, however, that it also will make your bathtub „smoother” than usual, so be sure not to slip!

Besides as a bath oil, olive oil can actually be used as a moisturizer! Some people use it just as they would a baby oil, and it even absorbs better. It can be great for dry feet, elbows and knees, or anywhere else you want to add a little moisture.

Speaking of moisture, those with dry hair know that your skin isn't the only thing that needs this kind of conditioning. Olive oil can be used in your hair. On dry hair you can rub a teaspoon or so into your hands and wipe gently on hair. For a more intense conditioning, find instructions online on how to cover your hair throughout with olive oil, leaving it in for a few hours, and then wash out for thicker, fuller, conditioned hair. It is also said to help prevent hair loss.

When purchasing what you will use for olive oil bath purposes, don't skimp! Extra virgin olive oil is the best for your skin, and is really the only one that should be used in these situations. It can be used every day, if desired, or just once or twice a week when you need a real deep conditioning, especially for your hair.

At any store, specialty or grocery, you will find soaps and shampoos that contain olive oil. This olive oil bath usage is more commercial, but still uses some of that natural goodness. However, if you want to really see what olive oil can do for your body, stick with it in its most natural form. Straight from the bottle!
